Stage Direction

Jan directs Shakespeare, opera, musical theatre, original works, and English-language classics in regional theaters and festivals across the country.  She has directed more than 60 productions in all, most recently, MACBETH at Richmond Shakespeare in Richmond, VA, MARAT/SADE

at Theater 54 in NYC (Off-Off Broadway), and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW at Kingsmen Shakespeare in Los Angeles.  She is Founding Artistic Director of Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company and former

Artistic Director of Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.

Artistic Director

In her tenures as Artistic Director at Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company (1989-1997) and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival (2007-2008), Jan managed multi-million dollar budgets, oversaw ongoing facility improvements, and attracted the highest levels of professional talent while sustaining long-term profitability and company stability.

Jan has directed for the American Shakespeare Center, Mendocino Shakespeare Festival, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, Boston’s Stoneham Theatre, Richmond Shakespeare, the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival, Nevada Repertory Theatre, Artists Repertory Theatre, Chamber Opera Oregon,

Stark Raving Theatre, Portland Baroque Orchestra, and Third Angle New Music Ensemble, among others.
